How to Apply for Funding
PSFA believes that strong schools are the foundation of strong communities. Through community support, we strive to inspire life-long learners by supporting high-quality education for every public school student.
What do we fund?
PSFA works closely with the Methow Valley School District to support enrichment programs, experiences and educational materials. These include field trips and outdoor education, arts and music programs, books and library enhancement, career and college counseling, teacher training, after-school programs, materials for special projects, workshops, tutoring, and internships. PSFA grants do not cover clothing, food or lodging expenses.
Who can apply for funding?
Teachers, students and other school partners may apply for PSFA funding. Our main application is due on May 30, but we also offer new teachers an opportunity to apply for funds at the beginning of each school year (September 15).
Because we work closely with the school district to determine which requests should be covered under district funds and which should be submitted to PSFA, applications must be approved by a principal at either MV Elementary School or Liberty Bell Junior/Senior High School prior to submission. PSFA is a funding organization, and is not responsible for the administration and content of any of the programs it funds.
Small grants
At any time during the school year a MVSD staff member or student can request funds for projects or materials (costing up to $300 for staff and $150 for students) by sending the following information in an email to: methowvalleypsfa@gmail.com
Special projects
In previous years, PSFA only considered spring and some limited fall funding applications. However, we recognize that special projects and opportunities come up throughout the school year. We will now welcome requests (upon approval by the MVES or Liberty Bell principal) throughout the school year. If the request meets our funding criteria, we will seek additional, targeted funds to cover that request. For example, if a MVSD teacher contacts us about a particular science experiment or field trip that would exceed our small-grant limit of $300, PSFA would put out a special call for funding to cover the expense via our website and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram). Because our budget is set on July 1st of every year, funding for these special project requests would depend on us successfully raising additional funds to cover the request.
